From the 3 to the 9 November 2007, the six partner countries (Austria, The Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Portugal and Turkey) of the Comenius project Different Bridges From School to Professions, and an assistant teacher from Norway attended the first meeting in the beautiful city of Nuremberg, in the Förderzentrum Förderschwerpunkt Hören, the host school.

The main aim of this project meeting is to prepare all the activities for the students’ exchange that is going to take place in Austria in April 2008.

In this meeting we have the opportunity to bridge six countries to reach different cultures, habits, traditions, life styles and school systems, which will give us the chance to getting to know each other better.

During our stay in Nuremberg we have prepared project tools, questionnaires about students’ interests and attitudes, teachers and students’ evaluation sheets and plans for the first students’ exchange. In Austria teachers are going to present the results of the given questionnaires and the evaluation of the activities. Students are going to introduce their Countries and their Educational Systems. Teachers will also arrange the next project meeting in Estonia.

The host school, Förderzentrum Förderschwerpunkt Hören, informed us about the school work with hearing impaired students and how they prepare them for future life.

In the BBW (Berufsbildungswerk) the Comenius partners were acquainted with different ways of learning a profession and how students with disabilities are being prepared for the integration into working life. The Comenius team also visited Diehl training center and BIZ (Berufsinformationszentrum).

The German partner arranged excursions to the old City of Nuremberg, Documentation Centre, The Court of Nuremberg Tribunal of War Criminals and the Town Hall. We learned a lot about Nuremberg region and were given the chance to taste typical cuisine of Nuremberg.

We attended a Press Conference with the local media and we had the opportunity to inform them about our two-year project.

The President of the Middle Franconian region, Mr. Richard Bartsch, the Representative of the City of Nuremberg, Mr. Gebhard Schӧnfelder, the Representative of the Section of School Government of Middle Franconia, Mrs. Elfriede Hirschmann, The Manager of Education, Environment and IT Department of Middle Franconia, Mr. Heinz-Peter Bergauer, the Representative for the Zentrum für Hӧrgeschädigte, Miss Cathrin Seel, the representative of the Party Bündnis 90/Die Grünen, Mr. Dr Berthold Lausen, the European partners and some of the school staff took part in an excellent reception organized by the host school supported by the Middle Franconian region.

All the partners are glad to attend this project meeting and would like to thank the great hospitality of the German partner and all the institutions that have cooperated with this Comenius project and have supported us.

We are also very thankful to all the National Agencies who gave us the possibility to realize this project.
